Only as the Wind Blows

Only as the Wind Blows is a collection of ten short stories which deal mainly with the growing up experiences of the author, Basil Lopez. The author, however, tires to reconstruct these experiences not solely on a personalized basis, but also in a context of a construct which may for instance ask the question, why do so many of us migrate? So some of the stories may be set in Miami or New York Always, however, there is a concern with West Indian matters and what is it that makes us a people. Flashes of humour permeate many of the stories as well as frequent use of the Jamaican language.

In the Palace of the Gods

In the Palace of the Gods are a series of meditations whose subject matter is mainly about spiritual centredness. They are written in the form of messages to Ku-Soonogo's children, which may be taken in a wider context to be messages to the next generation. The book is divided into sections dealing with family, friends, nationhood and immortality. There are in addition a few of miscellaneous content. The style is of poetic prose, but there are a few that are straight poetry.
